Subject: Vinterseminar med Oscar Brenifier
Vi har mottatt følgende invitasjon fra Isabelle Millon/Oscar Brenifier:
Winter Seminar "The art of questioning" in France
February 6th - 7th 2010
Call for papers
The Institute of Philosophical Practice is organizing a winter seminar in English on philosophical practice. It will take place in Argenteuil, a close suburb of Paris.
Philosophy professors or practicing philosophers who wish to present their methodology during the seminar are invited to forward by electronic mail their proposal, before December 31st 2009.
It should take the form of a workshop, not a lecture. These proposals can deal with the various aspects of philosophical practice: philosophy with children, philosophical consultation or counselling, philosophy in business, philosophy teaching etc.
Workshop
A philosophical workshop is a practice where one engages himself to produce and understand ideas, deepening them through argumentation, analysis and interpretation, problematizing them through questions and objections, clarifying them through the identification and utilization of concepts. It is not an exchange of opinions, a lecture or a verification of acquired knowledge, but the common elaboration of a thinking process, by examining its flaws and limitations, working it through in order to develop it in a conscious and reflected manner.
We all have opinions, erudite or banal, that we enjoy repeating, without realizing that we have become their captive. To philosophize is to stop on those ideas, in order to examine them in a critical way.
A workshop has a structure and functioning rules, it imposes constraints in order to ensure that one confronts rigorously the ideas he encounters.
Practicalities
The duration of the seminar will be one week-end, February 6th and 7th 2010, from 9am until 6pm. The participation fee is €50.
Sleeping accommodation can be found in the close surroundings, at rates starting at €40 per night. As usual, the Institute will wave participation and/or provide free accomodations for persons who have financial difficulties, but are highly motivated.
